Staff's First And Last Name:
Monica Martin-Marietta
Select Staff's Position:
1. Executive Director

Monica Martin-Marietta has been the Executive Director of SteppingStones for a number of years. Monica is not just a SteppingStones employee, she is also the mother of a son, Travis who has benefitted greatly from the services offered by this organization. She personally understands its importance. She began her SteppingStones career as a volunteer in 1993 when her son was diagnosed with Cri Du Chat Syndrome. He received services such as speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy and the integrated preschool program and Monica received comfort and support from her new circle of friends. She and her family have been very active volunteers and supporters since that time. She attributes a lot of Travis’ successes in life to SteppingStones and the services provided to him at an early age.

Monica is a Morgantown girl who graduated from Morgantown High School, West Virginia Junior College as a Certified Medical Office Manager and The American Academy of Professional Coders as a Certified Professional Coder. Her employment record shows experience as an Office Manager, Surgical Secretary, and University Health Associates Billing Specialist. Then she came to SteppingStones as the Recreation Coordinator and moved up to her present position of Executive Director.

Staying involved with her community by working with the Monongalia County Olympics, G-Force Boosters Association and Ridgedale Athletic Association is important to Monica. In 2007, Monica was honored as one of The Dominion Post 100 Most Influential People, #59. Her position with SteppingStones has made her more aware of her community and she learned first hand the benefits of being a volunteer and being involved.

In her personal time, Monica enjoys any outdoor activity, camping with her family and friends, NASCAR racing, spending quality time with her husband, Eric and children, 18 year-old Travis and 6 year-old Breonna.

She dislikes, people who do not think before they speak and say mean and hurtful things.

In 10 years, Monica would like to be sitting in the same chair she occupies today. A top priority is to pay off the mortgage of the SteppingStones Facility and continue with the AWESOME recreational programs they currently offer. She loves her job and enjoys the children and adults she works with and for at SteppingStones. Monica enjoys the relationships she has formed with the participants and their families and the volunteers that help to keep SteppingStones up and running smoothly.

Monica feels SteppingStones has molded her into the caring, compassionate person she is today.

Her major achievement in life to date ............... Being a Mom!!!
